Austin has twenty-four years of healthcare management and consulting experience. Since 1995, he has held various senior executive roles with large medical groups and medical practice management firms.He has extensive medical practice management knowledge covering most medical and surgical specialties – including primary care, urgent care, occupational medicine, pulmonary/critical care medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, radiology, ophthalmology, cardiology, and cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery.His functional medical practice management expertise includes strategic and business planning,physician compensation design and administration, physician productivity analysis, revenue cycle analysis and improvement, practice assessments and work flow design/re-design, hospital/physician alignment, financial analysis, data mining and analytics, organizational design and governance, health plan contracting and negotiation, mergers and acquisitions, new business ventures, and executive and staff recruitment.

Austin’s ability to build working, trusted relationships with both senior hospital leadership and physicians contributes to his successful facilitation of hospital/physician alignment transactions. In addition, he is able to gain an in-depth understanding of operational and performance issues and develop detailed financial turnaround implementation plans for clients.

Austin completed his undergraduate work at The University of Tennessee (Knoxville, TN) in 1990 with a BA in Political Science and Economics. He earned his Master of Health Administration (MHA) at the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA) in 1995 and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Duke University (Durham, NC) in 2005. Austin is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, the American College of Medical Practice Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants.

Austin has lived and worked in Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and California. He lives in Falls Church, Virginia with his wife Celina (Shanghai, China) and son Bryce. Austin enjoys a variety of sports, good food and great laughs. He also enjoys his career in healthcare and the consulting business.
